The pressure on staff in health and social care has never been greater. The pandemic, staffing levels and wider economic issues have made a difficult job even harder. Work-related stress is a growing challenge for many of us. It can be dangerous if it isn’t recognised and dealt with effectively.
Many of us try to deal with stress on our own, or we ignore it. This can make a bad situation worse. However, most of us work in teams and we can give each other valuable support. By working together, we can shield ourselves from the worst effects of stress. If we develop greater resilience as a team, it will benefit each member of the team.
To help you develop this resilience we have created a game that enables teams to explore the pressures they face, discuss the impact of stress and agree different ways of working together. The game creates a safe space for groups to discuss difficult issues about work, stress and their team in a supportive and confidential environment.
How does the game work?
The game presents information about work-related stress in an interactive and non-judgmental way. It empowers players to share their experiences and their concerns. It brings people together to learn new ways of supporting each other.
The game is intended for between 2 and 14 players and usually lasts for between 20 and 60 minutes. No external support is needed, and anyone can run a session. The game is suitable for all health & social care staff in any setting.
What are the benefits of the game?
Effective team-working has never been more important for individuals and organisations. The Team Resilience Game helps teams to take more control over how they work together.
- Makes learning about resilience an enjoyable social experience.
- Encourages and empowers players to talk about stress and resilience.
- Tackles feelings of isolation; the group shares experiences and offers support and advice.
- Helps players understand that everyone’s experiences are different.
- Gives information about support networks and helps identify the gaps.
How much does it cost?
There are 2 versions of the game, online and printed. Both versions offer the same educational content but can be used in different ways.
